To give or not to give?

There are so many people on the streets selling tissues. Old, young, disabled, abled.. You named it, and we definitely have it. But who are those that are really in need of help?

Because of the nature of my part time job, I got to know of this lady who is selling tissues on the street. She is about 40 plus 50 i guessed. She's an indian. (Nothing racist here.. Hahaha..) And if i am not wrong, she sells tissue everyday. And whenever she "works", she will stay near the traffic lightand approach people. And from her experiences, its easier to "get money" from chinese.. Hahaha.. I do not know how did she comes to that conclusion but she does have her views.

But thats not what i want to discuss here today. What i wanna discuss is whether to give or not to give? Everytime when i see her, i will feel like giving her a dollar and "buy" some tissue from her. But looKing at her age, and she being abled.. And most importantly, she has an abled daughter, fit and healthy who always waits for her mum at the side while her mum is selling tissues. So the question is, should i help her?

And again, when i was at bishan the other day and walked past this old woman holding onto some tissues, trying to sell them at the centre of the walkway. I see people just walked past and ignored her. Maybe its because she din approach people, thats why her sales or rather business is rather bad. However, in the end, i still decide to help her by giving her a dollar, thinking that she is a poor old lady in need of help. But i was happy too. Cos i got 2 packets of looney tunes tissue. They are so cute..

I was rather confused. Who should I help? But ultimately, its still the elderlies that gets more empathy from me. Or rather, I feel the urge to give them a few bucks.
