Promises

I realised a big big secret!!!! Singaporeans just like to break their own promises. Hahaha... Am i too biased? Or am i being over-sensitive?
Case 1
Running down the event list of the FOC committee, we had already been half-way thru all of the stuffs. And throughout all the events, how many of the people actually turns up for all the fund-raising activities, pre-camp and camp; not talking about meetings itself. Basically, i am not the one who is bothered by this issue but obviously, my boss does. However, it is also very true that if one had actually agrees to being part of the committee, then he/she jolly well should understand the responsibility he/she holds during the whole operating period of FOC especially camp, matric day and the orientation week.
Basically, we are all selfish people. We only care about our own benefits. (meaning mi inclusive..haha) But the point of discussion is whether one will actually makes an effort to balance between other committments (job, travelling...) with the responsibility they hold in the committee. There is basically no right or wrong i guess. Just a matter of fact that we are given too many choices and ideally, we will tend to choose the choice that benefits them the most.
Case 2
I had been working as a dragger; a promoter for near the past few weeks. I had to say that Singaporeans just like to LIE. I had been approaching many many people for weeks and its saddening to see people actually lie to say they have a membership... lie to say they are going into the gym now... lie to say they will come back later for the tour when we ourselves know clearly that there is going to be no return. But the main point i wanna brought up is... why LIE? We, promoters understand that some people are just not into exercising and gym.. So its definitely OK if you tell me that you are not interested.. And there is definitely no reason for you to cook up an excuse for a stranger like me!!! And worse still.. Those who promised me that they will come back... i believe among 50 people, only 1 will... so wads the moral of the story.. Don't make a promise knowing that you cannot fulfil them!!! We are humans too. Don't give me hope and break it right in front of me.. Or i am just taking the job too seriously man..
However, i should say that there is always glimpse of hope around. And just yesterday.. 2 New Zealand guys that i had approached few days ago, actually turn back and look for me!!! As promised, they allow me to bring them into the club for a tour. And i believed its a worthwhile trip for them as i can see that they like our facilities. Ultimately, this is not about money. Its about some of the most trival things that we are making each day of our lifes: Promises.
